La primera parte del examen: Paper 1. Reading and Use of English.

💡 Aquí van 5 recomendaciones para mejorar tu nota en el Paper 1: 

• Read as much English as possible. Magazines, newspaper articles, brochures, reports and emails. Anything you can find! The more authentic English materials the better your English will become and the bigger your vocabulary will grow! 

• Learn a new word/expression in context. Paper 1 will test your attention to detail and technical English language knowledge.  To prepare for this, we recommend that you learn words and expressions in their context. For example, in your vocabulary notebook, write down the whole sentence or an example – not just the word on its own. This way you’ll learn how the vocabulary is used and also remember a story behind it.

• Watch the clock! In the real exam you only have 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete all 7 parts of Paper 1. We suggest that you practise under the same conditions to get used to the pressure. You will also understand how much time you realistically have to complete each part of the exam paper.

• Take notes as you go. It’s important to read the instructions and texts carefully. To help you absorb the information, underline key words and phrases as you read. Then, as you respond to the questions, you can refer back to the text and more easily locate the exact phrase containing your answer. 

• Work hard, play hard! As Bree said, correct spelling counts in Paper 1. Why not practise your spelling and have fun at the same time using word games like Scrabble,  Boggle or Kahoot!
